What Topognosia is
Topognosia (topognosia.gr) is a Greek area data service. For every municipality and every address in Greece it shows how many businesses there are, how many open and close, how many residents live nearby and what is close by, from open public data.

In short
Topognosia answers two questions with data: "is it worth opening a business here?" and "what is the neighbourhood like where I'm thinking of living?". It covers all 332 municipalities in Greece and is updated every month.
Who it is for
For three kinds of people, with different tools:
- For anyone opening a business: the competitors around an address, residents per business, and openings and closures in the sector. In detail in the Area report.
- For anyone looking for a home: what is within walking distance, how far away the hospital, town hall and police are, seismic risk and property prices. In detail in the Neighbourhood report.
- For professionals such as estate agents, accountants and consultants: many reports a month with the Pro and Office subscriptions. See Pricing.
What is free
The municipality and sector pages, the counter on the map, the Topognosia Index, Where is it missing?, official property values and municipality comparison are free and don't need an account.
Only reports for a specific address and subscriptions are paid. Prices are on the Pricing page, together with a real sample of each report.
Where the data comes from
Businesses come from GEMI (the General Commercial Registry). Residents, seismic activity, property prices and neighbourhood places come from other open data published by public bodies and from OpenStreetMap.
Every page states the date of its data. All sources are listed under Sources and the way we measure under Methodology.
What it is not
It is not a business directory and it does not sell contact lists. Sole proprietorships are not named, and very small numbers are protected, so that no one can be identified.
It is not a service of GEMI or of the Greek state, and it does not give legal, tax or investment advice.
